Sometimes when you gift something to your parents, their smiles say it all. I had always seen Dad take deep interest in the works of Kahlil Gibran and I can hardly remember when I first saw "The Prophet" in my house. I was too young then perhaps but over the years, I've realized that just like Dad, I too have become a big admirer of Gibran's works!
I got to know that Naseeruddin Shah would be enacting "The Prophet" after a really long time on the stage over this weekend at the NCPA Experimental Theatre. When I was around 16, I remember Dad telling me that he wanted to go for this play...I don't know why he didn't then. I made it a point to buy 2 tickets for Mom & Dad for today's performance. When they got back, their smiles said it all! Mom had never read "The Prophet" or any of Gibran's works, but now she too wants to read all of it! And of course, I'm giving her my inputs!
Watching Naseeruddin Shah is always a treat...and watching him enact "The Prophet" is a blessing! And yes, I very well have booked my tickets for tomorrow along with the office gang and a few others. Awaiting the 1hour 45minutes of sheer bliss.

How was it?
A great idea to present your parents with such a gift. And I've never read The Prophet. I mostly read biographies - in case you think I never read!
I have read The Prophet, but it was a long, long, long loooong time ago. Well, maybe I'll pick it up again (after I reread Siddhartha).
What a nice thing to do for your parents. You'll have to let us know how you enjoyed the performance too.
I just figured out what the cost of the tickets would be in U.S. dollars. You're very lucky to have theater that's so affordable.
Thanks, From Cali...my parents LOVED the play...Dad is a great Gibran fan so he loved it and so did Mom, although she isn't...ooops...wasn't a great Gibran fan but she now is!!:)
Absolutely, Alexa...do read it again!!:)
I totally agree that we are really lucky that theatre is affordable here...but its not as famous! We have some amazing productions in theatre but it doesn't reach out to the masses completely as people prefer films to the stage:(...UNFORTUNATELY!:(
