Times are changing faster that thoughts, I guess. A few years back we hardly had any of such huge malls in India and today, we are filled with them at every second foot.
This is a shot taken at the Inorbit Mall, which happens to be one of the city's biggest malls. One could almost get lost between the crowds of faces that enter these malls everyday. And, the best part is that you can find anything and everything under one roof! All I wait for is my favorite brand - GAP to enter one of these malls.
Amazing to see ideas grow into such destinations! And every time I feel this is the biggest one can get, I get reassured that there is more coming. I really now wonder, what is next...

That is impressive. Okay, I admit it, I like to shop! You need to visit CA. We have a GAP outlet near where I live and I bought some things there 2 weeks ago. :-)
Rahul -- Or just come to NYC, where there's a GAP on every other corner (and a Starbucks on all the others). In fact, I was just shopping yesterday at the GAP nearest to my office.
I do have to admit that when I think of India, this is definitely NOT the image I have in my head! But, of course, I haven't been there in a very very long time and, as you say, times are changing . . .
On weekends, Inorbit Mall is the site for families to come - roam aimlessly, have terrible food at the food court and if they can afford it, see a movie. To me, Inorbit represents everything going wrong in Mumbai, but hey - it's "development"!
From Cali,
I LOVE to shop too!!:) Infact, I must admit, I almost endorse GAP here!;-) Although, what I really miss are the GAP stores...as we don't have any here!:( Waiting for one to come...
Alexa,
I LOVE STARBUCKS too!!:)
When I was in Europe, I used to LIVE on Starbucks!!:) WOWWWW!!:)
you've made me remember it all!!:)
and yes, I COMPLETELY LOVE GAP!!:)
Aditya,
Firstly, welcome to the site!:) We haven't heard from you before...tell us about you...:)
Well, India is changing...and well, I wouldn't really agree to commenting on the families as its fun for them to window-shop:) C'mon..they just come out with their families to have fun...if roaming around aimlessly is fun for them, so be it!:) Sometimes, aimlessness is important for the balance...isn't it?!:)
I feel the malls are doing a good thing...yes, it is true that the rich are becoming richer and the poor are become poorer...but I dont think this solely is responsible for it! I feel its surely some development...for the good!:) what say?
