300th

...and we are 300 shots old!

I really don't know how time flies and keeps you unknown to its speed. I was wondering what to capture today and just as I stopped thinking too much, I found myself standing in front of this famous building - the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - the city's arrival point.

Formerly known as the Victoria Terminus and better known by its abbreviations CST of Bombay VT, this is a historic railway station in the city which serves as the headquarters of the Central Railways. It is one of the busiest railway stations in India, and serves Central Railway trains terminating in the city as well as the surburban railway. Designed by Frederick William Stevens, it took ten years to complete the station and was named "Victoria Terminus" in honor of the Queen and Empress Victoria. It was opened on the date of her Golden Jubilee in 1887!

109 years later, in 1996, in response to demands by the Shiv Sena and in keeping with the policy of remaining locations with Indian names, the station was renamed by the state government after Chhatrapati Shivaji! On 2nd of July, 2004 the station was nominated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO!

Even after 122 years, some monuments simply take you back in time...

For our 300th post and many more such monuments to be saluted...

Congratulations to you! That's quite an accomplishment already, and this is quite a "grand" photo to mark it. Also a spectacular piece of architecture—complete with gargoyles!
