adaption

This photograph was taken at the R City Mall at Ghatkopar.
It has been a few months since this mall opened up and it has become one space where all the top global brands reside.

Until about twelve years ago, I hardly remember any such malls in the city. When the malls hit India, it was a BIG rage to go there. Not many would think of entering this space, unless your social and financial definitions allow you to. Today, thankfully (in some way), such scenarios have changed. Today, anybody and everybody likes going to these spaces.

These spaces are the ones which are a residence for many brands, many labels...which would compel us to be in awe of their showcases. Being a big shopoholic, I know exactly how they target their audience...and trust me, many of them do a very good job!

The whole concept of the malls has been adapted by the west. I would not judge whether it is good or bad as it is a perfect example of the coin having both sides to it.

But, what I do wonder is how amazing it is to see cultures being adapted to oneself. With all the adaptions, I wonder if there will be a time, when one would get detached or forget his own identity. Would that day ever come? I hope not...

For adaption, which remains a question to me...

Malls! I just spent the weekend out on Long Island—where I didn't have my computer so I'm playing catch-up, but I certainly had access to malls. Rahul, I thought the first shopping mall was opened here in the States (in Kansas City, Missouri) in 1924. They really began to flourish here in the 1950s.
